Canada

As a born-and-raised Canadian, I have a very biased love and affinity for the country that I’m lucky enough to call ‘home’.

I love that our stereotypes often lead people to envision us as the overly-apologetic, flannel-clad, maple syrup-making, friendly neighbours to the North of the United States. I also love that we have such a vast, diverse nation (both in landscapes and the composition of our population).

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to live in four of our ten provinces (haven’t made it to any of our territories, though); I’m from Toronto, Ontario; I lived the better part of a four-year stint in Halifax, Nova Scotia; I decided to try the West Coast and resided in Vancouver, British Columbia for just shy of a year; and I lived in Lake Louise, Alberta for about two-and-a-half years.

In between all of the moving I’ve done, I endeavoured to pack in as many hikes, road trips, and adventures as possible. YOLO/FOMO is a real affliction and I’ve had it since I was about 16-years-old. While I don’t feel that photos or stories can ever really do our nation justice, this page is where you’ll find my attempts at detailing many of the adventures I’ve had, as well as the people I encountered along the way. Happy reading!

Tonight (experienced and written in Winter of 2020), I decided to head to a spot in Banff called Park. It’s one of my favourite haunts along Banff Avenue and I tend to go there sparingly, to keep the ‘cool’ factor alive and well. I think the reason I’m so in love with it as a venue, is that it has… Read more: Park
  • New Years Eve- Ringing in 2019
Historically, my New Years tradition has involved congregating with an amazing group of friends from high school, popping a bunch of bubbly, reminiscing on ridiculous stories from when we used to see each other more frequently, and catching-up on where people’s lives have led since our last shindig. This year (2018), however, I was unable to get enough time off… Read more: New Years Eve- Ringing in 2019

THE PREAMBLE I spent about two and a half years (cumulatively) living in Lake Louise, Alberta. Lake Louise is a relatively remote, extremely small locale that’s nestled in the Canadian Rockies in Western Alberta….quite the departure from my usual speed of living in large cities. In May, 2021, I found myself a couple months away from leaving Lake Louise for… Read more: A ‘Peak-Nic’ in Jasper

The second weekend of the 2019 Calgary Stampede, I headed into the city with some mates for a Stampede overnighter. The morning after, we checked-out of the hotel and my friends hit the road to head back to ‘the lake’ (aka Lake Louise); I opted to stay in Calgary for an extra couple nights to soak in the ‘city living’… Read more: Local
